Uganda Premier League 2026/27: 10 Venues Approved to Host League Matches

The Uganda Premier League (UPL) 2026/27 season is set to kick off on Friday, August 28, 2026, with clubs across the country preparing for another competitive campaign. Ahead of the new season, Terabyte Media UG brings you a look at the 10 venues that have been cleared by the FUFA Licensing Committee to host Uganda Premier League matches during the 2026/27 campaign. 1. St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende will host the opening match of the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season when defending champions Vipers SC welcome Entebbe UPPC FC. The stadium remains the home ground of Vipers SC and will stage the first league fixture of the new campaign. 2. Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo Located in the heart of Kampala, Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo will host the highest number of UPL matches this season after being approved as the home venue for four clubs. Entebbe UPPC FC will use the stadium after their proposed home ground, Bugonga Fisheries, was not granted a licence. UPDF FC will also play their home matches at Hamz Stadium after Bombo Military Barracks Stadium failed to meet the required licensing standards. URA FC will continue using the venue as their home ground, while Express FC will also host their matches at Nakivubo, having made the stadium their home since leaving Muteesa II Memorial Stadium, Wankulukuku. 3. Kira Road Police Arena Kira Road Police Arena in Kamwokya will serve as the home venue for Uganda Police FC, who own the facility, as well as newly promoted Ntugasaze FC. Ntugasaze have shifted their home matches from Mityana, where they featured during their FUFA Big League campaign. 4. Muteesa II Memorial Stadium, Wankulukuku After a season without Uganda Premier League football, Muteesa II Memorial Stadium, Wankulukuku is set to return to the UPL calendar. Maroons FC will temporarily host their home matches at the venue as work continues to upgrade their traditional home, Luzira Stadium, to meet the required standards. SC Villa will also return to Wankulukuku after leaving FUFA Stadium, Kadiba, which is set to undergo renovations as part of preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. 5. Hoima City Stadium Hoima City Stadium will be home to two UPL clubs during the 2026/27 season. Kitara FC will host their matches at the stadium after their preferred home venue, Royal Park Butema, failed to meet the required licensing standards. Newly promoted Blacks Power FC will also use Hoima Stadium after their proposed home venue, Ebenezer University Ground in Lira, was not granted a licence. 6. MTN Omondi Stadium MTN Omondi Stadium will once again host the home matches of KCCA FC and NEC FC. However, the venue will not host night matches at the start of the season, with floodlight upgrades required before it can be cleared for evening fixtures. 7. Lugazi Stadium, Najjembe Lugazi Stadium in Najjembe will continue to serve as the home ground of Lugazi FC following their participation in the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season. 8. BCS Sports Complex, Bukedea BCS Sports Complex in Bukedea will welcome Uganda Premier League football for the first time as it becomes the home venue for newly promoted Kataka FC. The venue will provide the Mbale-based side with a home base for their debut campaign in Uganda’s top flight. 9. FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru The FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru will continue to host BUL FC home matches, maintaining its role as the Jinja-based club’s home venue for another season. 10. Rwamwanja Stadium, Kamwenge Rwamwanja Stadium in Kamwenge will be shared by Mbarara City FC and newly promoted Kigezi HomeBoyz FC. Mbarara City have previously used the venue, while Kigezi HomeBoyz will temporarily host their home matches there as preparations continue for the construction of their proposed Al Madina Stadium. With all 10 venues cleared by the FUFA Licensing Committee, attention now turns to the opening fixtures as the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season gets underway on Friday, August 28. The new campaign promises plenty of excitement, with defending champions Vipers SC looking to retain their crown while newly promoted sides aim to establish themselves among Uganda’s top-flight clubs.
