Sadick Ssempiji Appointed Mutolere FC Head Coach Ahead of Big League Debut

Mutolere FC, also known as Volcanoes SC, have appointed experienced coach Sadick Ssempiji as their new head coach ahead of the 2026/27 FUFA Big League season. Ssempiji announced his departure from Kigezi HomeBoyz on Sunday before completing his move to the newly promoted Kisoro-based side on a one-year renewable contract. Mutolere secured promotion to Uganda’s second tier after overcoming Kakumiro/Booma FC 1-0 on aggregate, earning the club a historic place in the FUFA Big League for the first time. The club believes Ssempiji’s experience and understanding of Ugandan football will be crucial as they embark on their maiden Big League campaign. “We believe his experience, ambition and understanding of the game make him the right person to lead us into this important chapter,” said club president Dr. Martin Mbonye. Ssempiji arrives with a strong promotion record, having previously guided Kigezi HomeBoyz and Mbarara City FC to promotion. He has also worked with Kampala International University, Onduparaka, Arua Hill and Lugazi, among other clubs. The club has further appointed Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) Director General Robert Mukiza as its patron as it awaits FUFA approval to rebrand as SC Volcanoes Kisoro. With Ssempiji now at the helm, Mutolere will be aiming to make a strong impression in their first-ever FUFA Big League season and lay the foundation for a push towards Uganda’s top flight.
