Kisoro-based Mutolere SC (SC Volcanoes ) have secured promotion to the 2026/27 FUFA Big League after overcoming Booma FC in the promotion playoffs.
The Western Regional League champions edged Kakumiro-based Booma FC 1-0 on aggregate across two legs to book their place in Uganda’s second tier next season.
Mutolere SC earned their promotion playoff spot after being crowned champions of the 2025/26 Western Regional League, setting up a decisive contest against Kitara Regional League champions Booma FC, where they produced enough to complete a memorable promotion campaign.
The achievement caps off an impressive season for the Kisoro outfit, who have continued to establish themselves as one of the rising forces in Ugandan football. Last season, the club also enjoyed a strong run in the Stanbic Uganda Cup, reaching the Round of 32 after eliminating Wakiso Giants FC and showing their growing competitiveness on the national stage.
The team is coached by Uganda Cranes legend Patrick Ochan, whose experience and leadership have played an important role in guiding the club to promotion.
Elsewhere, AMUS FC played out a goalless draw against MYDA FC but progressed 2-1 on aggregate. Buwambo United defeated Black Stars 4-2 to advance 5-3 on aggregate, while Pakwach Young Stars FC beat Pajule Lions 2-0 and qualified 2-1 on aggregate.
That means Mutolere SC, AMUS FC, Buwambo United and Pakwach Young Stars FC have all earned promotion and will feature in the 2026/27 FUFA Big League season.
