Bulemeezi Ssaza FC have appointed experienced tactician David Mutono as their new head coach, replacing Leonard Ssekamatte following the team's disappointing start to the 2026 Buganda Masaza Cup campaign.
The decision comes after Bulemeezi managed just one point from their opening two matches. They began their campaign with a 1-1 draw away against ssese before suffering a 1-0 defeat at home to Mawokota, results that left the management seeking a change in direction.
Ssekamatte departs together with his entire backroom staff, ending his tenure after only two games of the new season.
Mutono will be assisted by Dan Bilikwalira as the coaching duo aims to revive Bulemeezi’s fortunes and steer the team back into contention for a place in the knockout stages.
His first assignment will be a daunting away fixture against Kyaggwe, who have made a perfect start to the tournament by winning both of their opening matches and currently sit among the early pace-setters in the group.
Mutono arrives with vast experience in Ugandan football, having previously coached clubs including Kyetume FC, Soana FC and Gaddafi FC. He is also well acquainted with the Masaza Cup, having managed both Mawokota and Kyaggwe in previous editions of the competition.
Known for his preference for attractive, free-flowing attacking football, Mutono is expected to bring fresh energy and tactical discipline to a Bulemeezi side eager to kickstart their campaign and climb the group standings.
