Beach Soccer AFCON 2026 Qualifiers: Uganda Draw Burundi in Second Round

Uganda’s Men’s Beach Soccer National Team, the Sand Cranes, have been drawn against Burundi in the second round of the 2026 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations (BSAFCON) qualifiers. The draw was conducted in Cairo, Egypt, on Tuesday, setting up an East African battle for a place at the continental finals in Senegal. Uganda and Burundi will face off over two legs, with the first leg scheduled to take place between October 9 and 11, 2026, before the return leg is played between October 17 and 18. The team that emerges victorious on aggregate over the two legs will secure qualification for the 2026 BSAFCON finals. The Sand Cranes will be hoping to return to the continental showpiece after missing the 2024 edition in Egypt. Uganda’s most recent appearance at the tournament came in 2022 in Vilankulo, Mozambique. The 2026 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations will be hosted by defending champions Senegal from November 7 to 15, 2026. Senegal are also the record holders in the competition, making Uganda’s qualification campaign an important opportunity to return to Africa’s top beach soccer tournament.
